Abstract
Two distinct effects, Fechner''s time-order error and an assimilation or central-tendency effect, operate to produce changes in response accuracy with changes in stimulus presentation order. A roving standard design was used in duration comparison experiments on college students. Assimilation effects rather than time-order errors were observed. Keywords
