Abstract
The leaky bucket is a simple flow control schemefor ATM networks. An arriving cell can be transmitted only if itfinds a token in the token buffer, in which case it is transmittedinstantaneously by consuming a token. If the token buffer isempty, the cell has to wait until the generation of a new token. Forpurposes of analysis we assume an infinite cell buffer. The controlparameter is the token buffer size C. We examine the burstinessof the output flow as a function of C and show that the...Keywords
