Finite element method for bound state calculations in quantum mechanics

Abstract
The finite element method, which in other fields has replaced finite difference and variational methods, is applied to the radially symmetric case of the hydrogen atom. The method is shown to have computational advantages over the finite difference and Rayleigh−Ritz methods. (AIP)Keywords
