Abstract
The clinical significance of Manning and associates'' experiments seems to be established in that myocardial lesions have been reproduced by electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve, using the weakest stimulus that would produce cardiac slowing for a minimal length of time. These lesions were prevented by atropine administration prior to stimulation. Some of the mechanisms involved have been discussed. Keywords
