Abstract
"The behavior of individuals working in small groups on reasoning, mechanical assembly, and discussion tasks was rated according to a system of categorization. Some groups worked with an appointed leader and others in an emergent situation. The behavior of the leaders is compared with that of other group members. The unique behavior of leaders for all situations and tasks was concerned with (a) analyzing the situation and (b) initiating action required."
