Disseminated Necrotizing Panarteritis (Periarteritis Nodosa)

Abstract
A case is reported of a 63-yr.-old man who presented the symptoms and signs of asthma, peripheral neuropathy and eosinophilia. Sulfonamides and penicillin had been used on 2 occasions. Pathologically he showed disseminated necrotizing panarteritis with nervous system involvement, characterized by affection of the smaller arteries in the meninges, choroid plexus, cortex and subcortex. The authors state that it is probable that the shock tissue in this disorder is the collagen in the medium sized blood vessels.
