Abstract
The electrochemical impedance of a platinum electrode in fused melts with and without additive in 0.1 and 1% environments has been studied from 1170 to 1200 K. The charge‐transfer resistivity for the reaction involved with the cathodic reduction of the dominant oxidant solute is about 0.75 Ω‐cm2. A Warburg impedance resulting from the diffusion of in the melt is dependent on the melt chemistry through an equilibrium with the environment. The mobility of the oxidant and its concentration introduced opposing effects for the temperature dependence of the impedance. Keywords
