Abstract
New specimens of the middle Paleocene apatemyid, Jepsenella praepropera, and the late Paleocene apatemyid, Labidolemur soricoides, permit description of the antemolar dentitions of both genera. Both have three premolars and identical patterns of premolar roots. The second premolar is probably the progenitor of the large “blade” of later apatemyids; the third lower premolar, large in both Jepsenella and Labidolemur, was lost by the known Eocene apatemyids. The similarity between Jepsenella and Labidolemur raises questions about the validity of the generic distinction.
