Abstract
Presentation of Case First admission. A thirty-eight-year-old housewife entered the hospital because of dyspnea.She had been an unusually athletic and vigorous woman until seven months before admission, when she noted the abrupt onset of dyspnea on exertion that was associated with coughing and wheezing. The dyspnea persisted and slowly progressed so that she became totally incapacitated. Six weeks later she was hospitalized for a month after an episode of syncope. With digitalis and Mercuhydrin therapy there was considerable diuresis. Three months before entry she was again admitted to a hospital because of another episode of syncope. During the two . . .
