Abstract
A study and evaluation of the effect of a single overwhelming dose of d-lysergic acid diathylamide in 100 cases, 61 alcoholics with poor prognosis and 39 nonalcoholics with psychiatric disabilities. Treatment method, setting and equipment, dosage, administration and procedure are outlined. Evaluation is made and results categorized diagnostically in tabulated form. Much improvement was seen in 52, 29 showed some improvement, and 19 showed no change. Results and side effects are discussed and 4 sample cases are presented. Ingestion of a therapeutic dose produces profound alterations in perceptual modalities. The experience lasts approximately 12 hours and provides the opportunity for extensive emotional re-education through a transcendental type of experience. Transintegrational therapy is the name suggested for this type of therapy. Conclusion is reached that LSD-25 used with described treatment method is effective in treatment of alcoholism and certain psychiatric disabilities. Keywords
