Abstract
Two matings between P. maculatus [male] and P. variatus [female] produced unisexual progenies of 118 [female][female] out of 119 young born. These hybrid [male][male] were fertile when back-crossed to either parent sp., producing offspring of both sexes. The reciprocal cross, variatus d X maculatus [female, produced 23 [male], 2 [female], and 1 inter-sexual offspring. The data are in agreement with the hypothesis that P. variatus is di-gametic for sex factors in the [male]. P. maculatus is known to be di-gametic in the [female].
