Further Studies on the Occurrence of the Dog Heart Worm, Dirofilaria immitis in Dogs in Mississippi

Abstract
Fifty of 153 dogs in Miss. were found to harbor the parasite in the right ventricle and in some cases in the pulmonary arteries. The number of worms recovered from individual dogs varied from 1 to 38. More short-haired than long-haired dogs were infected. The percentage of infection was greater during the months of March and April.
