Abstract
Presentation of CaseA forty-two-year-old television repairman was admitted to the hospital because of jaundice.He had been well until seventeen days previously, when he became febrile and acquired a distaste for his usual cigars. A physician prescribed sulfamethoxazole (Gantanol), which was given for five days. The fever subsided after one week, and he returned to work. Four days before entry the fever recurred, and two days later icterus and the passage of dark urine were observed. He lost 5 pounds in weight during the two weeks before admission.Two years earlier he fled Cuba and resided for six months . . .
