Abstract
A major epornitic of Mycoplasma gallisepticum occurred in market turkeys and broiler-breeders of the 5 county area near Monroe, North Carolina, USA, where 12 million turkeys are produced annually. The outbreak commenced in Oct. 1978 and spread to 55 farms by Aug. 1980. The epidemiology and steps taken to achieve eradication are discussed.
