Three-Body Forces in Nuclear Matter

It is argued that the $\eta$ meson can be expected to play a significant role in generating three-body forces in nuclear matter. This seems to invalidate earlier conclusions, based on $\pi$ exchange, that the effect of three-body forces in nuclear matter is insignificant.
