Association of Parathyroid Hyperplasia with Neoplasia

Abstract
A case of parathyroid tumor in association with chief-cell hyperplasia of the other three glands is presented. The literature concerning the synchronous association of hyperplasia and neoplasia is reviewed. It is concluded that long-continued hyperactivity of the parathyroids, in the form of either primary or secondary hyperplasia, may result in the formation of an adenoma.
