Abstract
Mannoheptu-lose decreased the net uptake of glucose and of mannose by rat-liver slices. This effect was attributed to an inhibition of hexose phosphorylation in the liver because inhibition of glucokinase and hexokinase by mannoheptulose in extracts of rat liver was demonstrated. The possibility that a similar inhibition of glucose phosphorylation in [beta]-cells of isolated rabbit pancreas could contribute to inhibitory effects of mannoheptulose on glucose-induced insulin secretion, observed previously, is discussed. This publication has 15 references indexed in Scilit:
