Abstract
Albumin was found to be a structural constituent of chicken myofibrils. Its subcellular localization as whown by electron microscopy demonstrated highest concentrations of albumin in the region where the thin and thick filments overlap. In addition, evidence is presented in favour of albumin synthesis in muscle. These results suggest a physiological role of an albumin in muscle, most probably in the fatty acid metabolism. Keywords
