Abstract
In the present study, embedded Bragg grating sensors were arranged in a rosette configuration to simultaneously measure the in-plane strain components and the temperature change. The rosette consisted of four optical sensors. The sensors were embedded in neighbouring plies to realise a point-like measurement. Assuming linear thermoelastic behaviour, the relationship between the optical response from each sensor and the strains in the laminate was established. A finite element model was then used to quantify numerically the expected accuracy of the measured strain under various loading conditions.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
