Abstract
The past few years have seen the introduction of lipoprotein (a) measurements into the clinical laboratory. Besides a number of technical pitfalls, the question of assay standardization remains unresolved. The polymorphic nature of apolipoprotein (a) poses a major problem in the achievement of this standardization.
