Vertical Transmission of Murine Cytomegalovirus

Abstract

Congenital abnormalities induced by murine cytomegalovirus were previously suggested to be an indirect effect of maternal illness as no infectious virus was isolated from the fetus. Latent virus detectable by immunofluorescence and in situ hybridization, are frequently present in [mouse] fetal tissues.
