Abstract
An approximation for the incorporation of ring closures in polymer gelation theory is employed towards predictions of the critical probabilities (pc) for bond percolation in two and three dimensions. These results are applied, within the framework of percolation theory, towards an interpretation of the results of random packing experiments for the system of hard spheres. Keywords
