Palsa bogs at Haugtjørnin, Dovrefjell, South Norway

Abstract
Sollid, J. L. & Sørbel, L. 1974. Palsa bogs at Haugtjørnin, Dovrefjell, South Norway. Norsk geogr. Tidsskr. 28, 53–60. Palsa bogs are described from an area at Haugtjørnin, Dovrefjell (62° 21′N, 9° 45′ E). This locality is the southernmost reported occurrence of palsa bogs in Fennoscandia, see Fig. 1. The palsa bogs are in a degenerating stage. Morphology and erosional processes of different types of palsas are discussed. Melting of permafrost by water contact seems to be the most important erosional factor. Further studies are planned.
