On the Reaction Field and Dielectric Constant of Polar Liquids

Abstract
It is shown that Onsager's formula for the dielectric constant of liquids, derived on the assumption of spherical molecules and a central mathematical dipole, still holds for extended dipoles of arbitrary position and direction as long as the molecules are spherical in shape.Keywords
