Driving and dementia

Abstract
Crash dataThe risk of crashes in patients with dementia has been extensively studied (table⇓). Over the course of the disease evidence suggests that the risk of a crash is significantly increased. As a general rule, however, the risk seems to remain acceptably low for up to three years after the onset of dementia, by which time most patients have stopped driving. A more detailed analysis of data on crash risk in dementia is provided on bmj.com.
