Abstract
A progress report on the program at MIT to demonstrate the feasibility and potentials for the application of superconductors in the rotating field windings of large central station synchronous generators is presented. A brief history of the program and a synopsis of previously reported results are given. The second ex-experimental machine (which will have a rating of about 2 MVA) is described. Keywords
