First results from a submillimetre polarimeter on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope

Abstract
Successful submillimetre polarization measurements have been made on the continuum radiation from a variety of astronomical sources using a new polarimeter in combination with the continuum receiver UKT14 on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT)†. The data presented here represent a significant increase in the available sensitivity and angular resolution of polarization measurements on continuum sources at wavelengths of 1100, 800 and 450 μm.
