Abstract
E. i. larvae occur in 13% of F. h. caught in the vicinity of Baltimore, Md. Both sexes are equally parasitized. Smaller fish harbor on an average smaller parasites than larger ones and the findings suggest a slow growth of the worms. Only one worm is found in most parasitized fish, but multiple infections (up to 25 worms) occur. Most parasites are found in cysts along the mesenteries, smaller numbers occur in the liver, fat tissue, peritoneum and ovarian capsule.
