Abstract
Pyramidal neurons from layers III and V of the cat brain cortex stained with methylene blue were revealed in vivo in a specially prepared cortex specimen by contact micro-objectives in reflected light. Small pieces of the brain tissue with identified neurons were excised after fixation in situ under visual control and were placed in special grid-baskets in definite positions. Orientated and fixed by the basket''s edges a bit of tissue was subjected to further histological treatment. khis method permitted the investigation of the same neurons after fixation by histological techniques suited for light microscopy or EM.
