Abstract
Formalinized tanned sheep erythrocytes were conjugated with antigens from a lysate of the Nichols treponemes. About 300 human sera, including biological false positive, normal, and syphilitic specimens, were investigated in a hemagglutination test. The hemagglutination test has a specificity similar to that of the TPI [Treponema pallidum Immobilization] test and a sensitivity comparable to that of the FTA (Fluorescent Treponemal Antibody) Test. Its reliability and simplicity perhaps indicate a promising future for the test in the sero-diagnosis of syphilis. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
