High-Risk Nursing Students: Emergence of Remedial/ Developmental Programs

Abstract
In schools of nursing as on most college campuses, the “high-risk” student population has forced us to analyze our instructional processes and develop new skills in helping students to help themselves. Developmental programs increase student success without minimizing educational quality. It is time to refocus our attention from predictive selection to effective retention of candidates.
