Abstract
A data-based estimator of a dose-response curve is developed. The estimator requires no assumptions about the functional form of the relationship between response probability and dosage. Also developed is a procedure, based on this estimator, for estimating the median effective dose. A simulation study was conducted to compare the performances of the procedure and Spearman-Karber type ED50 estimators recommended by previous studies. Keywords
