Abstract
Summary: A new polymorphic system of serum esterases was revealed in day‐old pigs by means of starch gel electrophoresis. Esterase zones of this system were not observed in newborn pigs before suckling or in adult pigs. What appeared to be a system controlled by two alleles was shown to be controlled by three alleles after treatment of sera with neuraminidase originating from Vibrio cholerae. The three alleles, EsIIO, EsIIE, and EsIIF, control six phenotypes. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
