Abstract
The infrageneric taxa of the genus Solanum L. which seem to fit the concept of the subgenus Potatoe (G. DON) D'ARCY (1972) are reviewed. The sections are identified in a diagnostic key and are described with the more important species. The subgenus is evaluated as more or less discrete from other subgenera of Solanum but is drawn close to the genus Lycopersicon MILLER which is treated, for the purposes of this study, as a taxon of sectional rank. A new taxon, Lycopersicoides CHILD, is described as a subsection of the section Lycopersicon.
