Chaotic Behaviour of Nonlinear Electromechanical Resonators (Rochelle Salt)

Abstract
For a longitudinally vibrating bar and a series-resonance circuit the experimental observations of the phase portrait show a chaotic behaviour. In the first case the nonlinear nature of the resonant system is determined by the nonlinear elastic coefficient of third- and fourth-order of Rochelle salt. The nonlinear properties of the series circuit containing a Rochelle salt capacitance and a linear inductance can be described by the nonlinear dielectric coefficient of thrid- and fourth-order. Phase portraits calculated with our data for the corresponding linear and nonlinear coefficients are in a good agreement with experimental results.
