Abstract
Discusses mainly the development of image transducers and their associated image-acquisition techniques. However, manipulation of the image after acquisition (post-processing) has led to a variety of techniques for extraction of information. In some cases this has influenced the transducer design. A brief summary of the types of post processing techniques is also included. Keywords
