Abstract
"The expts. described in this paper show that active enzymes may be formed from inert proteins by change of temp. or pH, by simple hydrolysis, by catalysis with other enzymes or by autocatalysis. These observations do not solve the problem of the formation of enzymes but they do indicate that the formation of enzymes is a special case of the more general problem of the synthesis of proteins and that the change from an inactive to an active protein may be brought about by relatively slight changes such as internal rearrangement or rupture of peptide links.".This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
