Abstract
The thermal decomposition of tetramethyltetrazen was studied in a static system between 127 and 175°. Values of 13·83 and 34·6 were determined for log A(sec.–1) and E(kcal. mole–1), respectively, for the reaction: (CH3)2N–N = N–N(CH3)2→ N2+ 2(CH3)2N It was shown that a dimethylamino-radical can react by addition to ethylene, although other workers have suggested that additions to olefins do not occur.
