Abstract
BOSTON-- A common herpesvirus that infects healthy adults but rarely harms them--cytomegalovirus--is now being recognized as a major threat to newborns, a clinical researcher reported at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (publisher of Science), held here 14 to 19 February. Other presentations discussed a possible observation of Bose-Einstein condensation prior to the work that won last year9s Nobel Prize in physics and the explosion in our ancestors9 use of ornamental beads about 40,000 years ago. More stories from the meeting can be found in last week9s issue (see " Human Gene Count on the Rise " and " A Whale of a Chain Reaction ") and at www.sciencenow.org and sageke.sciencemag.org.Keywords
