The sheath-helix approach to the helical aerial

Abstract
A theoretical study of the helical aerial is made using the same theory as has been successfully applied to the travelling-wave tube. This has led to an understanding of the effects of varying diameter and pitch as a function of frequency, so that it is now possible to predict the bandwidth of the aerial. The theory has been compared with experimental results for both the end-fire and broadside radiation and good agreement has been obtained.
