Abstract
Experimental results of a high-harmonic gyro-klystron amplifier are presented along with small-signal theory and large-signal simulation data. In this device, axis-encircling electrons interact synchronously with high-order azimuthal cylindrical-cavity TE modes. Gain in excess of 20 dB has been achieved at the fifth and sixth harmonics of the cyclotron frequency. The requisite high-energy beam is provided by a gyro-resonant RF accelerator. Harmonic operation together with RF acceleration potentially constitute a compact high-power high-frequency amplifier. Keywords
