Abstract
To the Editor: The Surgenor article in the July 4 issue, entitled, "Progress toward a National Blood System," carries a statement that should be corrected, for it appears to be the one statement in the article that many readers recall most vividly. It is this: "Most of the public responses (i.e., the legislative moves) have dealt directly, even simplistically, with the hepatitis issue. The single common theme has been to eliminate hepatitis by outlawing the practice of paying for blood.
