Abstract
The microstructure and chemical makeup of wear debris generated during short-term lubricated wear experiments is being investigated. Two types of debris have been identified: (1) metal flakes and (2) submicron metal particles imbedded in a gel-like lubricant product. The particle-gel structure was found for both stearic acid and pure dimethyl silicone. Keywords
