Abstract
The radiographic uses of X-rays as an aid in the study of paleontological material are descr. in this progress report. The methods used in making radiographs, together with the results, are discussed. Radiographic methods make possible, under favorable conditions of preservation, the location of specimens in matrix, the examination of specimens without preparation to determine whether they are worth working out, the examination of specimens that cannot be cleaned, the study of internal structures without destruction, and 3-dimensional views of the interior with stereoscopic radiographs. The accompanying illustrations include calcareous, phosphatic, pyritic, and siliceous specimens, both in and out of matrix. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
