Puzzling Aspect of Quantum Field Theory in Curved Space-Time

Abstract
A field theory in a six-dimensional conformally flat space-time is studied at the two-loop level. It is found that the state-dependent divergences do not cancel and thus the theory does not become renormalized in the usual way.
