Abstract
The case records of 106 persons charged with murder and referred to the authors for psychiatric assessment between 1974 and 1984 were examined and a 140-item questionnaire completed. Political murderers were found to be generally more stable than non-political murderers. Significant differences also emerged in the recommendations made by defence and prosecution psychiatrists. Keywords
