A Comparison of Political and Non-Political Murderers in Northern Ireland, 1974–84

Abstract
The case records of 106 persons charged with murder and referred to the authors for psychiatric assessment between 1974 and 1984 were examined and a 140-item questionnaire completed. Political murderers were found to be generally more stable than non-political murderers. Significant differences also emerged in the recommendations made by defence and prosecution psychiatrists.
