Abstract
By embedding the pions in a spontaneously broken gauge theory of weak and electromagnetic interactions, we are able to remove certain ambiguities found in previous calculations of charged-pion decay. By doing so we confirm an apparent two-standard-deviation discrepancy between theory and experiment. Keywords
