Abstract
The multidimensional gas chromatographic (GC) group-type analysis of paraffins, naphthenes, and aromatics (PNA analysis) in hydrocarbon mixtures has recently been optimized with respect to the speed of analysis. This analytical system is expanded with a reversible olefin trap and now allows the determination of saturated naphthenes and paraffins, unsaturated naphthenes and paraffins, and aromatics according to their carbon number up to a boiling point of 200°C in one run. The total analysis time is 1.5 hours. The characteristics of the olefin trap are discussed.
