Abstract
Maleic hydrazide added to solutions of partially purified plant extracts can be determined semiquantitatively by a paper chromatographic method in which the area of the maleic hydrazide spot, detected by spraying with a mixture of ferric chloride and potassium ferricyanide, is measured. By this method as little as 0.2 micrograms of maleic hydrazide can be detected with an error of about 35%. This method is not applicable to plants treated with maleic hydrazide because of the presence of interfering substances. Keywords
