Abstract
The piezo‐optic coefficients of deuterium oxide and of methanol and the refractive index of methanol have been determined over a range of temperatures up to 35°C. These results, and data available in the literature for benzene and a number of other pure liquids, have been examined in terms of an equation recently proposed for the dependence of refractive index of pure liquids on temperature and volume. Keywords
